STEPHANIE

Birthdate: 1 Jan. 1974

Hometown:  Washington, DC

Occupation:  When I'm not job hunting, I'm a software engineer (engi-nerd)

Education:  BS in Mechanical Engineering from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA

Family Life:  I'm single!

Running History:  I got into running when I was on the rowing team in school. I came home to visit my dad one weekend. He was injured running the Marine Corps Marathon. I went in with him at mile 6 and ran until the end... Of course, he left me behind just before memorial bridge (mile 23???)... bad ankle and all. I couldn't walk for a week... but I was hooked. I was 17 then. I've run ever since then... although my consistency at various times could use.... uh... let's say improvement.

Miles per week: 16 - 20

Paces:  Currently 8:30-9...

Favorite Race:  Cherry Blossom 10-miler

Best Running Experience:   A run to the Christmas tree on the mall in 1998. It was cold as he*@... we all ran from arlington, courthouse past Iwo Jima across memorial bridge.... posed for pictures at the lincoln monument... ran to the christmas tree on the mall, had some cider, and ran back. it was wonderful and festive.... also, this year's cherry blossom was wonderful. the conditions were perfect... you could see the kenyans running like gazelles as they passed by you finishing up. A lot of people that I knew came out and supported the race.... It was awesome.

Worst Running Experience:  I'd say the metric marathon in 1999. I yacked twice over the course of the 26.2 km.... I've never been so happy to see a finish line in all of my existence. The time that weenie tried to mug me... that stunk, too.

Diet:  I'm a non-stringent vegetarian (i eat seafood..... i'm a professed sushi-aholic who doesn't want to recover). I add serrano peppers to almost everything I cook.

Injuries:  I have a grade 1 tear in my ACL that I first aggravated when I was on my high-school gymnastics team.... but i've been fortunate... as long as I listen to my body, I rarely have any issues with it. By the way.... I never had any business doing gymnastics.... I'm dangerous to myself.

Non-Running Interests:  Scuba diving, music, foreign lanugages and cultures, riding horses, swimming, dancing, & biking.

Who would star as you in the Hollywood story of your life?  Is there a female version of Robin Williams? If so, I want her.
